Overview:
Renaissance Romance Publishing is a print and eBook publisher of quality fiction in the following genres:
· Young Adult
· Contemporary
· Historical
· Alternative Lifestyle
· Paranormal/Sci-fi/Fantasy
· Mystery/Thriller
· Steampunk
· Erotica
Unless otherwise specified in an open call’s guidelines, we accept all relationship pairings.
While not every great story requires physical intimacy to be enjoyable, stories depicting sexual intimacy will be given a rating based on the level of sexual content, in order that each reader may make an informed decision about their reading choices. Those that exceed the accepted ‘sensuality’ rating of contemporary romance will be considered for our Sensual Awakenings erotica imprint.
Manuscripts will be classified into the following standards:
· Short Story: 5,000 to 15,000 words
· Novella: 15,001 – 30,000 words
· Long Novella: 30,001 – 60,000 words
· Novel: 60,001 – 90,000 words
· Long Novel: 90,001 words and above.
Submissions will only be accepted via email. At this time, Renaissance Romance Publishing does not accept hard copies of manuscripts.
We do not accept partial manuscripts or simultaneous submissions. We will review your submission as quickly as possible, and we ask that you respect our editors' time by not submitting your manuscript elsewhere until we have completed our review process. Your consideration is appreciated.
We are currently not accepting manuscripts of fewer than 15,000 words unless they are submitted for inclusion in an announced open call.
Renaissance Romance Publishing prides itself on releasing books that we are proud to present to the general reading public. In that vein, we will not consider manuscripts that glorify depravity or illegal acts, including but not limited to: pedophilia, bestiality, racial intolerance, rape as titillation, necrophilia, etc. In addition, all characters depicted in engaging in any type of sexual intimacy must be at least eighteen years of age.
If Renaissance Romance Publishing accepts your manuscript, we will provide the following:
· A fully edited manuscript, having gone through a substantive and polish edit, where the writer will work hand in hand with their editing team.
· A quality cover design and all graphics needed to complete it.
· Fully formatted manuscripts ready for e-publication, and converted to all commercially produced e-reader formats.
· If applicable, a fully formatted print edition, with final proof approval by the author and two copies for the author’s personal use.
· Distribution to major book sellers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony, Apple, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, etc.)
· Full promotion of you and your book on our website, blogs, and other social media sites.
Submission Procedures:
Authors need to provide Renaissance Romance Publishing with a query letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters of the completed manuscript.
Send your query letter to submissions@renaissanceromancepublishing.com and include the following information:
· The words "Submission Query" in the subject line of the email.
· All personal information: your legal name, your pseudonym (pen name), if applicable, and a contact email address.
· The working title of your manuscript, including series name, if applicable.
· The genre, sexual orientation, and word count.
· A blurb about your manuscript. This should be a short, 2 - 3 paragraph description of your story giving enough information to "hook" the reader/editor into wanting to know more.
· If you have a promotional website, please provide a link. Tell us of any writers’ groups you are associated with and any contests you may have won. Do not be embarrassed to say you are a first-time author; everyone starts somewhere.
Attach to your email a detailed synopsis. Your synopsis is a summary of your story, approximately 2 pages in length, which introduces the major characters, details major plot points, and gives the story’s conclusion.
The synopsis is to be more detailed than the blurb from your email, and should not include excerpts from the story itself. This synopsis will be the first exposure of your story to our editors, and will give them a feel for your story, told in your own words. If the story is part of a series, please include a brief summary of one to two paragraphs of the planned sequels.
For short stories and novellas a, one-page synopsis will be sufficient.
In a second attachment to your email, include the first three chapters of your manuscript.
If your manuscript falls within the Short Story or Novella classifications, please submit a full manuscript.
Please refer to formatting guidelines below when preparing your submission.
What happens next?
All submissions will be acknowledged within 7 days via email.
All submissions will be evaluated by our editors, and a response given within 6 - 8 weeks.
If your submission is accepted for further evaluation, a Renaissance Romance Publishing editor will contact you for a copy of the full manuscript of your story.
If, upon review of the full manuscript, your story is accepted for publication, a contract will be offered.
All contracts are electronic and will be exchanged via email.
At this time, Renaissance Romance Publishing does not offer advances on contracted manuscripts. In the future, dependent on an author’s publication history with us, that may change, and will be considered on an individual basis.
Royalties will be paid on net receipts of sales.
Renaissance Romance Publishing will hold the rights of any electronic or print manuscript for a period of 3 years from the date of publication.
Copyright remains with the author.
